Letter To all Hirers During December 2021

RE: NEW KITCHEN

As you are aware much time and money has recently been channelled into the redecoration and upgrading of the village hall. The Trustees have been working hard to ensure the smooth running of the premises during this period and are very fortunate to be supported by two new members of staff,  Jeff and Colleen.

Remarkably Crockenhill Village Hall has been nominated as Howdens charity and a new kitchen donated to us (currently sitting in one of the Trustees garages).  Paul who lives in the village is a depot manager and is leading the charge on the refit as well as drafting some colleagues into action. One of which is Josh who has kindly agreed to take on the plumbing works- the refit includes a dishwasher and cooker hood!

The chance of a new kitchen doesn’t come along very often and it was agreed to jump at the chance and carry out the works after the pre school breaks up for Christmas.

The bar area will be untouched and can serve as a kitchen during the period of refurbishment. There are fridges already in the bar area and the urns, kettles and microwave will be put in this space too for general use.

Since finding out about this opportunity, the Trustees have ceased to take ad-hoc bookings over Christmas and apologise for any disruption this might cause to bookings taken prior to the kitchen project coming about.

Alan Waterton with the help of voluntary muscle is very kindly going to remove the old kitchen on the 17th December 2021. Spencer, a local builder has generously offered to deploy his electrical staff  to the hall to carry out required upgrades and move electrical points etc.

The Trustees are discussing a plan for a DIY SOS type request for residents to get involved, bring along a screwdriver to put together flat packed units, make tea or move units into place.

If you or your group have any belongings in the kitchen cabinets, please remove them from the hall before the 16th December 2021. Sadly there is no space to store your items in the hall during the refit. We will be back in touch when it’s safe to bring everything back.

It’s going to be tough but with a bit of dedication, a lot of goodwill and much positivity it can be done!

Fingers crossed everything will run smoothly even if not always entirely to plan.

As we move into the autumn and winter period, leaves and mud are being walked into the hall. By way of a reminder please could you remember to sweep the floors after use so that its nice for those that go in after you.                THANK YOU SO MUCH
